Scalp Shading for Women

What Is VScalp?

Vscalp is an advanced semi-permanent hair-density treatment that uses specialised scalp pigments to recreate a soft, natural look of fuller hair for women suffering with noticeable thinning hair. Unlike washable fibers or sprays and invasive transplants, Vscalp offers a non-surgical, non invasive, semi-permanent solution to restore density. This treatment (also known as Korean Scalp Shading), is extremely popular in South Korea and will soon become one of the most popular density solutions around the world!

Results typically last 12–24 months, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. A recommended 2-3 sessions are required to achieve optimal results.

Who is suitable for Vscalp?

VScalp is ideal for those experiencing thinning hair, reduced crown or perimeter density loss. Treatment is not suitable for complete baldness, but works wonders to enhance areas where hair is present but lacking fullness. A consultation and patch test is required to confirm suitability.

What’s the difference between VScalp and SMP?

Unlike traditional Scalp Micro-pigmentation (SMP), which creates the appearance of shaved follicles, VScalp uses advanced soft-shading pigments and techniques to convey thicker, denser-looking hair. The result is natural, subtle, and designed to blend seamlessly with your existing hair—not resemble a tattoo.

What to Expect From Vscalp Sessions

VScalp is a gradual treatment designed to build natural, soft density over time.

  • Treatment 1: A foundation layer of subtle shading is applied. The results may not be dramatic or immediately visible, but this initial stage is essential to start the process.

  • Treatment 2: Additional pigment is added, focusing on lighter areas to begin building density and balance.|

  • Treatment 3: Density is deepened and evened out, creating a fuller, more natural look. The most noticeable transformation for most clients occurs from this stage onward.

Managing Your Expectations

Our shading technique is very subtle and the first treatment should not be expected to deliver dramatic results. The shading lays the foundation, which gradually develops into noticeable density as each treatment is layered. For optimal results, 2-3 treatments are recommended.

Most Frequent Questions

Does it hurt?

Vscalp uses a specialist machine that eliminates the need for anaesthesia cream; however, we recognise that pain perception varies among clients. Most clients describe the sensation as mild discomfort rather than pain. Numbing cream can be applied 15–20 minutes before the session to minimise sensitivity. Some areas of the scalp, such as the hairline or crown, may be more sensitive. How long will the results last? Results generally last 12–24 months depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. The pigment will fade naturally and evenly over time and does not discolour. A further treatment session may be required after this time to maintain results.

Am I suitable for this treatment?

Just as with any example of permanent makeup, most people qualify as good candidates for the procedure; however, there are certain factors that need to be considered. A thorough consultation is required to rule out any pre-existing conditions and contraindications. Some examples include:

  • Diabetes, Cancer, Epilepsy, or Autoimmune Disorders

  • Blood-thinning Medications

  • Complete Balding

Can I dye my hair / roots after treatment?

Yes you can after 3-4 weeks following your last treatment.
